9.5/ 10 I thought his was a really fun episode! The Tarentino type music and time jumps were an entertaining way to tell the story. I also really liked the call back to the earlier hunting days- when hunters specialized in one type of monster and Sam and Dean used devil’s traps and Ruby’s knife to go after demons. I especially liked the retcon of the yellow-eyed demons and the story of how Crowley became King of Hell. It made Mary seem like less of a third wheel in the storyline. And of course the surprise at the end was something I did not see coming (unlike the object in the vault, which I figured out right after Crowley accepted the position of King.)
I can’t say I enjoy watching Mary lie to her boys, but she’s a Winchester- lying and hiding things is just what they do. And I do love that the story has shifted back to being about the Winchesters saving themselves. The global scale of the Apocalypse, the Leviathans, and Amara was too impersonal for me. What I love about Supernatural is the interaction between Sam and Dean when they’re fighting for innocent people and for each other. To me, the whole “we need to save a world full of people who don’t know we exist” thing makes Sam and Dean seem like background players in their own story.
I’m still not warming up to the British Men of Letters. They’re clearly not the Winchesters’ allies. And they’re not total villains. But they’re not interesting enough to be frenemies like Crowley, the Alpha Vampire, Rowena, or Meg. I’m losing patience and interest in these characters.
I do like the idea of the Princes and their interest in Lucifer’s nephilim. I’m excited to see where they go with this story.

I really wanted to like this one. I like Tarantinos work. But this just wasn't clever enough for this style,in my opinion. We already knew Mary was the rat(maybe she should have been the one that got stabbed). But stabbing Cas was just an easy way to write that he might be back at full strength, let's hope. The BMOL are lame and now Luci is back. Plus now we have Prince/ Princess of hell. So i didnt hate this episode but kinda stuck in the middle.lol

Giving this a FULL 10/10 I loved it and loved the Mythology side of the show for once. How each scene was woven in where each scene slotted in regarding its time the black screen allowing us to see when it was happening. The rough and tumble of the fight scenes were action packed.
But what I loved most was that Crowley saved the day, that he showed us he did care about the Winchesters when it came to it. I felt Crowley had a purpose in protecting the boys and he went out of his way to save their hides. He bargained for their lives and in the end used his brain and let the magic out of the spear that in turn saved CAS. It was a brilliant put together storytelling. I loved how the Colt came back and am still puzzled in how it was found? Since the last time we saw it in Frontierland S6 it was back in time. Then Mary is seen getting it out of a safe??
The climax for me was seeing Crowley with Lucifer giving him a taste of his own medicine whilst he sat drinking from his tumbler of whiskey. I even noticed he had a star engraved on his tumbler. I thought Richard Speight added some nice touches whilst directing. The lighting in particular and the slow motion of the five of them walking was kind of cool!
I do love Mary, and HOPE they don't kill her off too soon and are Mary and Cas becoming closer??
Thanks, to Louise and jpollock for your thoughts.

This episode really seems to have the fans split. I can see why people really like it or dislike. I did really like the time jumps also.

IIRC, back in 5.10 Abandon All Hope, Crowley gives the colt to the Winchesters to kill Lucifer. Dean shoots Lucifer, but the bullet doesn't kill him. Lucifer tells the boys that there are 5 things that the gun can't kill and he is one of them. Then he flings Dean into a tree- the gun falls from Dean's hand into the grass near him. Castiel comes and teleports the Winchesters away and Lucifer returns to his spell to resurrect and bind Death. No one picks up the gun. I can only assume that Crowley would have been lurking nearby to see if Sam and Dean succeeded in killing the devil, and that he retrieved the colt. As he says in this episode, "It's amazing what some people just leave laying about." That's my theory anyway.

No one still seems sure about what things the Colt 'can not kill'. All this time later fans are still unsure.
That little snake I can believe would be lurking in the bushes someone looking on. It seems like something that Crowley would be up too.

I enjoyed this episode, but i didn't like the Tarantino effect, I would have liked it more just normal, all this going backwards and forwards was confusing. I was so looking forward to Mary coming back but now i am not so sure. I thought she would be more maternal, instead she nearly kills them. I suppose i was like deans point of view of a four year old. Now it turns out she lies and can't cook.

I think they are not doing Mary any favours. I feel that they are making her out to look bad, for what reason, not a clue yet. But fans are not liking she is double crossing her sons. She is very sneaky working with the Men of Letters and getting that hunter killed and being sneaky about the colt. She isn't very maternal around her sons, at first I gave her the benefit of the doubt, being away for so long but now as you. I'm not so sure about her character, and where it's going. Sam Smith is doing a great job as Mary, though. She's a good actress and knows how to HUNT!
